But some of us (self included) have had to have the tanks cleaned and the fuel pump and injectors replaced. Similarly more people will have no issue with the tank/fuel pumps on the 2018/19 ATAS than will. They are a lot more stable on the Camel brace than they were on the windcreen bracket. I have no idea if either or ours would have broken or not. I didn't have a problem with spending the $90 (per bike) for some peace of mind with the Camel ADV brackets. It isn't widespread or happening to them all, but it does happen enough that my dealer was well aware of it, having handled warranty cases for it. It may be particularly vulnerable with a heavy unit such as the Zumo 595. At least one guy had it break twice and both the AT's in that first link had them break on the same trip. But of course that doesn't mean no problem exists or that there isn't a risk that it could break. He felt it just wasn't beefy enough and the washboards he was riding broke it, so he wasn't sure how much the GPS contributed. One guy had one break with a GPS mounted and then had a second one break without the GPS mounted. The bigger question seems to be how much the GPS contributes to it. Maybe we would not have a broken bracket without the Camel ADV reinforcement, but we have had zero broken with it, so it is all good There is a guy by the name of Vlad (?) who also makes one. I added the Camel ADV version to my wife's bike and my own. My dealer was definitely aware of the issue and mentioned that for the money it doesn't hurt to add the reinforced bracket. There have definitely been some discussions of the brackets breaking on ADV and other forums. its little wonder to me that things go wrong. especially on nadgery off road conditions where the bike is bouncing and thudding. which will act as a lever and place extra strain on the bar. where the sat nav is on the end of a pole. I remember when i first started looking at these bikes, i frequently saw this silly item mentioned. Camel go so far as to say its 'likely' to fail. don't be surprised given some of the problems we have seen with a minority of bikes for a few. Never underestimate the abilities of some owners to make a mess of a simple task and then shift the blame. Show me 10 and I'll start to think its actually something worth a reconsider. if it was "Common" it would be a hot topic as you see so many bikes with Sat Navs in this position without any extra support. Ive been told on forums and FB that failure is common. And the dealers advice was to use the upper bar. Honda told me to follow the dealers advice. They have fitted Sat navs to a LOT of bikes since the CRF reappeared and have never had one come back with a broken weld. The reaction i got was incredulity and barely contained laughter. He asked me to repeat my concerns to them. he looked at me as if I had two heads, and dragged all the techs out of the maintenance department. I also mentioned this to my dealer when i bought my bike in 2018.
